This was my favorite part of the whole 2 week trip to Morocco - the Sahara. It's not only a horrid desert, that goes for miles. It's not only sand and camels. After this trip, I think it's magical.
It's not fun to ride a camel for more than 1 hour. I had bruises after that for a week and it was not good to look at. But the whole desert tent night was a great experience overall.
We got there at sunset, we had dinner and then we look up to the sky and there's when the magic happens. I never thought it was possible to look at such a clear night sky like that. It was like fairydust, shooting stars every other second and huge constellations all over the sky. If you ever have the chance to visit the Sahara just lay down on the sand in the dark, away from any source of light, and look up. I guarantee it will be one of the most beautiful things you will see in your life.
Enough with magic because I could talk about it forever. We woke up the next morning, it was still pitch dark, to go back to the city, by camel. Oh the pain, once again...
After that it was time to relax for a couple of days at the hotel we previously booked. I was dying to get there, it was so pretty and I was so excited to get there.
Once we got there we met a group of amazing portuguese people! They do expeditions in many places, being the Sahara one of their favorites. They had their Jeeps and asked us to go with them for a ride. it was EPIC! Driving in the sand dunes, going to the top of the highest ones, visiting other tents and even following some Dakar trucks in training. It was amazing and we are grateful for meeting those people.
Next it was about relaxing in the hotel. It rained on the second day, but it was still beautiful. The next post will be all about the hotel Auberge Du Sud.
